West Port are manufacturers of high performance timber windows and doors. Their client base covers a broad spectrum of markets in both the public and private sectors. This includes refurbishments for prestigious hotel chains, major commercial new build projects, through to one off renovations for the discerning private home owner.
The company operates on the principle that the products it supplies will exceed the prevailing demands of weather performance, security, mobility and long term durability.
Traditional timber beads, due to the small nature of the profile, tend to be a vulnerable area of the window in respect of longevity.
To ensure the raw materials measure up to West Port’s high manufacturing standards, they have been using Qwood since 2010. The company found the transition to Qwood very straightforward, handling it in the same way as traditional timber with no need for specialist tools or techniques. They even found working with Qwood easier due to the absence of knots or raised grains and it being flexible for arch work.
West Port has found many advantages that result in a higher quality end product, such as an improved paint finish and dimensional stability. In most cases the customer is unaware of the change to the Qwood product but will comment positively on the overall finished appearance of the window without realising there has been any change to the bead at all.
